Many dogs are tough on toys. So many students tell us their dog does not have many toys because they destroy them within the first few minutes. We get it! This is a very common complaint when it comes to dogs versus toys.

Dogs are designed to destroy toys. Sure, there are those dogs who take great care of their toys as if they were their babies. But so many love hearing that rip and seeing all that fluff to speedily pull out from the fresh rip. The joy they must feel when they hear that first seam give way. The act of ripping a toy up is your dog doing what comes naturally. They would do this to caught prey if given the opportunity. Since they do not need to hunt for food they enjoy practicing this instinct on toys.

What drives me the craziest is all the fluff that winds up on the floor. It’s not good for the vacuum to roll over. So I’m required to get on my hands and knees to pick up each piece one by one. I either buy toys without stuffing like Skinzees or we let them have stuffed toys to rip up for a week once a month. They just love it so I have to indulge them!
