Dog Trainer, Behavior Consultant, and CARAT Evaluator

Ali Weihl has always had a passion for animals. Starting in high school, she was intent on training marine mammals, so she spent one summer volunteering at the Georgia Aquarium, got her scuba certification, and spent another summer as an intern at the Pittsburgh Aquarium. While at the Pittsburgh Aquarium, she assisted the head penguin-keeper. Then, that same summer, as she worked with a dog and horse trainer in Western Pennsylvania, her passion turned from marine mammals to dogs because of her ability to be more hands-on and utilize more positive reinforcement techniques. After graduating from Saint Vincent College (Latrobe, PA) with a degree in Biology, she moved to Georgia in June of 2013.
She started out working in daycare at CCA as well as auditing classes such as Puppy, Scent Work, Reactive, and Rally. Since then, she has advanced to teaching Puppy, Adolescent Pup, Scent Work, Rally Obedience, Reactive Modules, and many other classes. Ali also offers private consults to work in-home or at our facility one-on-one as well as board and train.
She has two Whippets, Aspen and Sherman, who keep her active and exploring new hiking trails. Ali has earned her AKC Rally Novice title, Intermediate trick title, and Canine Good Citizen with Sherman. Sherman has earned his BCAT and some legs toward his scent work novice title. Ali looks forward to trialing with Aspen and showing her in conformation as well as going lure coursing when she’s old enough.
Ali is an AKC Star Puppy, Canine Good Citizen, and Trick Title Evaluator. Ali became certified in Suzanne Clothier’s Animal Response Assessment Tool (CARAT) in August 2020. This required several years of honing observation skills and demonstrating the theoretical and practical applications. This tool categorizes behavior traits in multiple, practical components. Ali is working towards becoming a Certified Professional Dog Trainer (CPDT-KA) through the Certification Council for Professional Dog Trainers. Ali likes to attend seminars and conferences for continuing education
